Is Attitude Everything?

Is Attitude Everything?

Many years ago, these words were on a hand-out at a dear friend's funeral. They accurately define how she embraced life and still resonate. Given all that is happening, I feel they are worth sharing here:

Attitude
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on my life.
Attitude to me. is more important than facts.
It is more important than the past, than education, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do.
It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.
It will make or break a company...a church...a home.
The remarkable thing is, we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for the day.
We cannot change our past....we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.
We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play. on the string we have and that is our attitude.
I am convinced that life is ten percent what happens to me. and ninety percent how I react to. it.
And so it is with you.
We are in charge of our attitudes.
~Charles Swindoll

How does your attitude impact your daily life?

Contentment is a choice. The attitude to make a positive choice affects stress levels and makes me an easier person to be around than when I make the choice to be negative.

well said, words can't express the true meaning, but actions and
what's in your heart can make a big differences...

Every day good things and bad things happen in my life. Sometimes more good than bad, sometimes more bad than good. I cannot control what happens in my life, but I can choose the aspects in my life that I focus on and my reaction to whatever comes my way. I have had to work at recognizing and focusing on the positives but when I am able to do that whatever wasn't so good seems trivial and my life is so much more serene and pleasant.

What an interesting point of view.
I guess I could quibble with - "Attitude being more important than facts.", but I think - overall there is a lot of merit to the words he wrote.
I'm been trying to keep a real positive attitude recently.
It's a challenge, I'll say that. Have you ever tried it?

I walk out the door every morning with a positive outlook. No matter what I'm handed I try to find something positive about it, otherwise you might as well stay in bed.

There is logic in the statement, "Attitude is everything".
Thanks for the positive props

I agree there are some words that may be a challenge to accept but the overall message is worthy to adopt. Having a positive attitude is contagious in a good way! I try my best to not 'sweat the small stuff'. Each day is a blessing and I want to experience happy, not miserable.

Concur. We are certainly seeing *attitude* in its rawest form on our national stage. As one who believes that we cannot control our emotions, but we can control our actions, I would prefer to see less *attitude* and more *civility*, even if it is insincere.

Much of the stress, confrontation and violence that engulfs us is about *attitude*, especially the *I-win-you-lose, zero sum games* ongoing between extremists. This state of mind can easily be manipulated to vicious ends. We are seeing a Master Class in this strategy conducted by the President's handlers and enablers.

I was thinking of that situation and others currently being played out when I posted this item. I can also understand the appropriateness of these words on a much more personal level too. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your perspective.

I think others share your outlook too. It's a conscious choice that too many forget and allow their emotions to over-rule their actions. Thanks for stopping by.

    Great post my friend!

Yes, attitude is everything I believe. We all have lows and highs, but when you have a bad attitude it affects your decision making, I truly believe we witness it here on a daily basis.
Definitely agree and it’s one of the many examples I was thinking of when I posted this. Appreciate you stopping by and commenting.
